The top-ranked players’ team says Sinner practiced on an indoor hard court two days before facing Djokovic. The decision by coaches Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi enabled Sinner to regain the timing that has made him the strongest and most feared baseline player in the sport. Andre Agassi says on the BBC that Sinner “reminded himself just how much that ball can explode off his racket.” Sinner will face French Open champion Alexander Zverev in Sunday’s final as he attempts to defend his Wimbledon title.
Reddick is hoping to regain momentum in Atlanta after losing his NASCAR Cup Series lead to Hamlin
HAMPTON, Ga. (AP) — EchoPark Speedway may be the perfect setting for Tyler Reddick to reclaim his momentum in the NASCAR Cup Series points race. Reddick won five of the first nine stops on this year’s Cup Series schedule, including at EchoPark Speedway in February, one week after winning the Daytona 500. That gave Reddick an early dominant lead in the points race. The lead has disappeared in recent weeks. Denny Hamlin, who co-owns 23XI Racing with Michael Jordan, enters Sunday night’s race leading Reddick by 44 points. Reddick says he is “extremely” confident he can enjoy more success in his return to Atlanta.
Erling Haaland neutralized by England and subbed off late as Norway’s World Cup run ends
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Erling Haaland’s day ended earlier than many expected. About 15 minutes later, Norway’s run in the World Cup ended as well. Haaland was a nonfactor for much of his team’s quarterfinal against England on Saturday. Perhaps because of the strain of dealing with hot and humid conditions in South Florida, he was taken out with Norway’s hopes hanging in the balance going into the final 15 minutes of extra time. England won 2-1, and Haaland was kept off the scoresheet for the first time in this World Cup. He had scored six times in his four appearances going into Saturday.
