(SRN NNEWS)-

)  The Archdiocese of New York has reached an 800 million dollar settlement over sexual abuse allegations.  The money will settle claims from 1,300 people who say they were sexually abused by Roman Catholic priests and lay leaders.  The settlement would allow the plaintiffs to either receive a lump-sum payment of at least 250,000 dollars, or a potentially larger amount after a review of how much abuse they suffered.  The deal won’t be final until all parties sign the settlement, which is set to happen next month.  Several other American dioceses have reached similar deals recently.

(  )  Police in New York say they have arrested a woman who stabbed a rabbi with a syringe in the Diamond District last week.  The 32-year-old is facing a slew of charges including assault as a hate crime.  Police say the suspect stalked and jabbed the 26-year-old rabbi in the back with a needle near West 47th Street and Fifth Avenue.  The New York Post reports that two hours before that attack, the woman accosted another Jewish man who was dressed in traditional Orthodox clothing. Police say he confronted her, she said something in Russian, then stabbed him in the arm with a sharp object.

(  ) Supporters of Missouri’s Amendment Three, which bans sex-change operations on children, are campaigning hard in the days leading up to the midterm election. Chloe Cole, a national conservative activist, has been speaking out on the issue.  Cole is a girl who had been living as a boy.  She began so-called gender transitioning procedures at the age of thirteen, which included a double mastectomy.  At the age of 16, she decided to detransition and says she was misled and pressured by medical providers to get the original surgery.  A growing number of states are moving to ban sex-change operations on children.
