(SRN NEWS)-

(  )  Six transgender Idaho residents are suing the state in federal court, asking a judge to declare a new bathroom law unconstitutional.  The measure, which goes into effect in July, prescribes jail time for men who use womens’ restrooms, locker rooms or changing areas in both public and private buildings.  Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and sentenced to a year behind bars for a first offense, or a felony with up to five years in prison for a second offense.  The plaintiffs are represented by the American Civil Liberties Union and Lambda Legal.  Supporters of the Idaho law say women need to be protected.

(  )  Popular evangelist Greg Laurie says he will hold another Harvest Crusade at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California in July.  The one-night event will include performances by Contemporary Christian music stars such as Phil Wickham, Michael W. Smith and Cody Carnes.  Laurie says “We’ve been doing Harvest Crusades for 37 years now, but there’s nothing like the spiritual hunger we’ve seen recently in our nation, especially among young people.  The heart of the event remains the same — to proclaim the gospel and invite people to experience the hope only Jesus can give.”  The crusade will be livestreamed on a variety of platforms.

(  )  The head of the Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Marty Makary (muh-CARE-ee), is resigning after a rocky tenure that drew months of complaints from pro-life activists.  Those groups have accused Makary of slow-walking an internal review of the abortion pill mifepristone.  They are seeking to roll back FDA rules that currently allow the pill to be sent through the mail.  Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, says “We look forward to a new FDA commissioner who will put an end to the mail-order abortion drug regime.”  Kyle Diamantas, the agency’s chief for foods, is expected to take over as acting commissioner.

(  )  A New York health care system has received a federal grand jury subpoena issued in Texas seeking information about children who underwent sex change operations and the medical providers who administered them.  NYU Langone (lang-GOAN) Health is the first hospital system to publicly acknowledge receiving a subpoena for such records as part of a federal criminal investigation.  The subpoena seeks details on patients under 18 who received the operations from 2020 to 2026, as well as provider names. The Justice Department previously sent more than 20 civil notices to doctors and clinics across the country.
