Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, and US Ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz, hosted ambassadors from 10 Latin American countries at a first-of-its-kind diplomatic breakfast in October 2026 to expand cooperation at the United Nations and strengthen strategic relationships.
Representatives from Chile, Ecuador, Honduras, Paraguay, Venezuela, Guatemala, Peru, Costa Rica, El Salvador and the Dominican Republic attended the gathering.
Discussions focused on joint diplomatic initiatives at the UN as well as greater cooperation in economics, technology and innovation.
“Latin American countries are important partners for Israel, and together with the United States, we are working to deepen our ties and strengthen diplomatic cooperation,” Danon told JNS.
“The alliances we are building are reflected not only around the negotiating table but also in the voting halls of the United Nations,” he said.
Danon also described the meeting in a post on X, highlighting efforts to coordinate with Latin American countries both at the UN and in other areas of mutual interest.
“I hosted, along with @USAmbUN Mike Waltz, ambassadors from Latin American countries.
“We discussed advancing joint diplomatic initiatives at the UN and expanding cooperation in the fields of economics, technology, and innovation.
“We will continue working with our friends to strengthen our relationships on the international stage.
“Things are looking great in Latin America!”
The breakfast brought the Israeli and American ambassadors together with the Latin American representatives as part of an effort to strengthen international alliances and increase diplomatic cooperation.
Beyond coordination within the UN framework, participants discussed opportunities to build closer economic relationships and broaden cooperation in technology and innovation.
