Israel, Honduras Sign MoU for Long-Term Defense Partnership

By The Media Line Staff

Israel and Honduras signed a memorandum of understanding Sunday to expand defense cooperation and establish a framework for a long-term security partnership, Israel’s Defense Ministry said.

Defense Minister Israel Katz and Honduran Defense Minister Enrique Rodríguez Burchard signed the agreement during an official visit to Israel by a senior Honduran Defense Ministry delegation.

In a statement, the Defense Ministry said, “The MOU signed today constitutes a significant milestone in strengthening defense relations between the two countries and establishes a framework for long-term cooperation based on shared interests and values,” the statement says.

This agreement was described by the ministry as a significant step toward strengthening bilateral defense relations and creating a structure for continued cooperation based on common interests and values.

“The Honduran delegation received a briefing on the security and operational challenges Israel has faced in recent years, including key lessons from the multifront war and from contending with evolving and emerging threats in the region,” the ministry adds.

An overview of the Defense Ministry’s operations and capabilities was reviewed with the delegation as well as key elements of Israel’s defense establishment and defense industry. Officials from the two countries examined potential areas for additional security cooperation.

The agreement with Honduras is among several defense cooperation accords Israel’s Defense Ministry has advanced with international partners over the past year. The ministry said those efforts are intended to broaden Israel’s defense partnerships, strengthen strategic relations with friendly countries, and increase cooperation between Israeli defense industries and international markets.
